چکیده

We find net sedimentation rate[(13–200) lm/yr in the Aeolis Dorsa region, Mars, using the frequency of crater–river interactions. This sets a lower bound of 1–20 Myr on the total interval spanned by fluvial activity, which we correlate to the Noachian–Hesperian transition. The main uncertainty is the impact flux at the time of deposition. This result rules out basin-filling by a single catastrophic episode, such as a single impact-induced water–vapor greenhouse. 2013 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Variability in martian sinuous ridge form: Case study of Aeolis Serpens in the Aeolis Dorsa, Mars, and insight from the Mirackina paleoriver, South Australia

In the largest known population of sinuous ridges on Mars, Aeolis Serpens stands out as the longest ( 500 km) feature in Aeolis Dorsa. The formation of this landform, whether from fluvial or glacio-fluvial processes, has been debated in the literature. Here we examine higher-resolution data and use a terrestrial analog (the Mirackina paleoriver, South Australia) to show that both the morphology...

The reproductive biology of golden barb (Barbus luteus Heckel, 1843) in Maroon River, Iran

Golden barb (Barbus luteus) is one of the species in south and southwest of Iran which is greatly favorable to residents of the region. Unfavorable ecological conditions in habitat of this species and overfishing have led to reduction of the population of golden barb. Therefore, to restore the natural stock of this species, identifying its reproductive cycle associated with its habitat is of a ...

The ages of pedestal craters on Mars: Evidence for a late-Amazonian extended period of episodic emplacement of decameters-thick mid-latitude ice deposits

There is significant geomorphologic evidence for the past presence of longitudinally widespread, latitudinally zoned deposits composed of ice-rich material at the northern and southern mid latitudes on Mars (lobate debris aprons, lineated valley fill, concentric crater fill, pedestal craters, etc.). Among these features, pedestal craters (Pd) are impact craters interpreted to have produced a pr...
